An RTTC is an
operational unit of GRATIS and undertakes Training and Manufacturing
activities in the following areas: metal machining, woodworking, welding and
fabrication, foundry and textiles (batik, tie-dye, broadloom weaving).
To ensure that
regional concerns are addressed, the Manager is assisted by a local Advisory
Board comprising representatives of the Regional Co-ordinating Councils,
Regional Development Organizations, the National Council on Women and
Development (NCWD), the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI),
non-governmental organizations and local small scale industrialists who form
the RTTC Clients Association.There
are over 1,800 registered members of the RTTC clients associations
nationwide. RTTC clients associations consist of graduates and clients who
are encouraged to form a voluntary association to facilitate the provision
of RTTC services and also to disseminate information and offer further
training. Members are mainly engaged in light engineering, textiles and food
processing industries. They are assisted through training, technical,
marketing and business advisory services, the provision of working capital
and equipment on hire purchase to improve and expand their businesses. |
